GLOBAL PAYMENTS CARD BREACH

As I am sure most of you are aware by now, there has been a security breach with another Card Payments Processing Center, Global Payments.  At this time it is not fully known the extent of the breach nor the total number of cards or issuer’s affected.  Landmark Credit Union does have cards that may be affected by this breach.  We have been notified of those cards and have contacted the members involved.  If we receive other notifications, the members affected will be notified as soon as possible.   In the meantime, please be aware of any unusual activity on your account and more likely any unusual emails, text messages or phone calls requesting ANY information regarding your card.  Remember, Landmark and our processor already has your card number.  What we do not have and WILL NOT ask for is, the 3 digit CVV2/CVC2 code on the back of the card or your enrollment passwords to other sites or your PIN.  Please, DO NOT give that information to anyone that may ask for it.

Landmark Credit Union is dedicated to protecting your personal information and we are monitoring this situation.  If we become aware of any member cards that are affected by this breach, we will notify you as quickly as possible.  In the meantime if you become aware of unauthorized transactions on your account, please notify us as soon as possible. 

If you have already received calls or text messages or emails asking for this information and you provided it to the requestor, please notify us immediately.  If this is the case the following steps will be followed by the credit union:

1.      We will block and reissue your card

 2.     We will flag your account and monitor it

 

We advise you to:

 

1.      Report the incident to the credit bureau’s

a.     Trans Union  800-680-7289

b.     Equifax  800-525-6285

c.     Experian  888-397-3742

2.     Order a credit report

3.     Report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission

4.     File a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center www.ic3.gov

5.     Monitor your accounts closely and report any discrepancies

Again, the best defense against account compromise is to protect the information you have.  The information listed above was not a part of the security breach and the only way they can obtain the information is for you to give it to the requestor.   Also be aware of your non Landmark cards.  This security breach could affect those plastic cards also.

Dear Landmark Members and Debit Card Users

We are thrilled to inform you that Landmark Credit Union will not be included in the vast number of financial institutions that will be imposing fees for debit card usage. Landmark has always had a onetime issue fee for new cards which is and remains $20.00 and a replacement card fee of $15.00. We have not and will not be charging a per time fee for debit card usage.

Please understand that some merchants will impose a minimum purchase amount in order for you to use your debit card, but that change is completely up to the merchant and Landmark Credit Union has no input or control over those fees.

In order to be prepared for those situations, have some cash on hand for smaller purchases. ATM withdrawals also remain fee free for Landmark Debit Card holders. Landmark does not charge a fee for using another financial institutions ATM. However, the ATM owner more than likely WILL charge you a fee for using their ATM's. That charge may range from $1.50 upwards. Again, Landmark Credit Union has no control over fees that are imposed by other ATM owners or merchants.
